Faculty of Indigenous Social Sciences and Management Studies

The Faculty of Indigenous Social Sciences and Management Studies was established on  01st March 2021, in tandem with the establishment of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine as one of its four faculties. The Faculty offers study programmes to produce graduates, who are knowledgeable, competent and skilful at delivering services to satisfy human needs in resolution of disputes arose in communities in local, regional, national and international levels.
At its time of inception, two academic departments were established under the faculty:
  • Department of Social Sciences
  • Department of Management Studies
 
These two departments offer course modules in the subject areas of Social Science, Anthropology, Criminology, Economics and Management with particular reference to the indigenous knowledge system.
The faculty currently offers the Bachelor of Science Honours in Social Studies in Indigenous Knowledge degree programme, which is a professional qualification aimed at producing professionals, who are competent to  work independently in their respective fields of interests.
Further, the faculty is in a bid to get authorized the degree programme of Bachelor of Science Honours in Health Service Management in due course with an objective to produce professionals in the field of health care service management..
Students who have passed G.C.E (Advanced Level) in any subject stream are eligible to follow the Bachelor of Science Honours in Social Studies in Indigenous Knowledge degree programme and it is a four-year honours degree programme which comprises a research project and an institutional training.
The degree programs offered by the faculty have been designed to be more industry oriented and its alumni employment is assured for positions ranging from middle toplevel managerial roles in respective organizations. The faculty further continues its endeavours to enrich its programmes in response to the developments in the fields of interests and industry needs and strives to equip its undergraduates with knowledge, skills and valued attitudes to accept the challenges in a wider corporate spectrum.
