Department of Information Technology
The Department of Information Technology affiliated to the Faculty of Indigenous Social Sciences and Management Studies is committed to improve the employability of Social Sciences, graduates produced by the faculty by enhancing their IT skills.
Objectives:
The Department offers a Certificate/ Diploma in Information Technology on par with the collaboration of University Grants Commission (UGC) and Sri Lanka Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM) under IT for Humanities to provide the undergraduates an opportunity to earn a Certificate or Diploma in Information Technology.
This programme could be considered as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for undergraduates who are already involved in a non-computing study programme. They will be able to enroll into the programme parallel to their main stream of study and complete the programme before obtaining their main academic qualification.
The Programmes are designed to produce qualified IT professionals by encouraging undergraduates to obtain skills required for the IT industry. Hence, obtaining the Certificate/ Diploma in Information Technology, will facilitate the professional development and job opportunities in IT industry or any other industry where IT-based services/applications are being used.
