Overview
The Department of Shalyashalakya operates as a department within the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine. Its main goal is to advance Shalya tantra and Shalakya tantra to increase the field's evidence basis through research.
The department of Shalya Shalakya was established in 2010. Before that, it functioned as a unit under the department of Chikitsa. The Department of Shalyashalakya closely works with the Gampaha Wickramarachchi Teaching Hospital, Yakkala.
This department offers two core courses in the BAMS curriculum, i.e. Shalakya tantra and Shalya tantra to Level 4 and 5 respectively.
