Undergraduate Research Symposium 2026
Faculty of Indigenous Health Sciences and Technology
The Faculty of Indigenous Health Sciences and Technology (FIHST) of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine invites undergraduates to participate in the Undergraduate Research Symposium 2026 (FIHST-URS 2026).
Suggested theme: “Empowering Research and Modern Technology for Innovative Approaches in Global Health and Well-being.”
The symposium gives undergraduates a platform to showcase research, share innovative findings, and strengthen scientific communication - fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across Indigenous Medicine, medicinal resources, biotechnology, environmental sustainability, and health technology through oral and poster presentations and peer-reviewed proceedings.
The symposium will be held on the 1st of December 2026 at GWUIM premises, Yakkala.

Abstract Submission
Authors are required to prepare their abstracts using the official FIHST-URS 2026 Abstract Template.
- Length: approximately 250–300 words
- Structured format: Introduction, Objectives, Methodology, Results, Conclusions
- Keywords: 4–6
Abstracts should be submitted online through the official submission form (link to be shared).
Eligibility: open to undergraduates of GWUIM and other universities; research must be original and supervised by an academic staff member.
Presentation Types
Oral Presentations
- 3 minutes presentation, followed by 5 minutes Q & A.
Poster Presentations
- Whole-day poster presentation session.
Double-blind peer review by academic and subject-expert reviewers.
PublicationAccepted abstracts will be published electronically as Symposium Proceedings with an ISBN.
