Ayurveda Medical Clinic and Awareness Programme on Psoriatic Disease

The Department of Cikitsa, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, successfully hosted an “Ayurveda Medical Clinic and Awareness Programme for Psoriatic Disease and Comorbidities in Sri Lanka” on 01 November 2025 at Sri Sudarshanarama Purana Viharaya, Kiribathgoda.

The event was organised by Dr. J.A.D. Pushpa Jayakody, Senior Lecturer and renowned Ayurvedic Physician, under the guidance of Prof. K.P.P. Peiris, Dean of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine.

Dr. Harsha Dharmavijaya, Visiting Lecturer at the Department of Cikitsa and traditional practitioner of the Nedungamuwa Gedi Vana Pilika tradition, attended as the chief guest.

Event Highlights

  • Free Ayurveda Consultations and Treatments were offered to patients, focusing on individualised, evidence-based care.
  • Mental Wellness and Mindfulness Sessions were held in a peaceful Buddhist setting, accompanied by music, cultural performances, and motivational activities.
  • A Short Documentary Film and Stage Drama promoted awareness about psoriasis, its prevention, and lifestyle management.
  • Participants received a “Wellness Handbook on Psoriatic Disease,” compiled and authored by Dr Pushpa Jayakody.

The programme combined traditional healing, modern insights, and community awareness, emphasising holistic wellbeing for individuals living with psoriatic conditions.
