Career Fair 2026 organized by the Career Guidance Unit, GWUIM
The Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine successfully organized the Career Fair 2026 on the 04th of March 2026 at the university premises in Yakkala. The event was conducted for the final year undergraduates of the Faculties of Indigenous Health Sciences and Technology (FIHST) and Indigenous Social Sciences and Management Studies (FISSMS).
The event aimed to connect students with professionals and industry representatives while identifying employment and internship opportunities related to the university’s degree programmes. These programmes are designed to integrate indigenous knowledge systems with modern scientific approaches, preparing graduates for emerging fields such as pharmaceutical drug development, medicinal plant cultivation, biomedical science, and applied fields such as ICT and management.
The event was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Snr. Prof. Wasansha Subasinghe, Registrar, Bursar of the university, Deans, academic and academic-supporting staff of the two faculties. The Director of the CGU - Dr. Lakshitha Madunil welcomed all the invitees, which included over 30 industry partners, who engaged with undergraduates to evaluate their employability, discuss potential career pathways, and explore opportunities for internships and research collaborations. The Career Fair 2026 provided a valuable platform for strengthening links between academia and industry while supporting the professional development of students and enhancing future employment prospects for GWUIM graduates.
