Dehiattakandiya Health Promotion Programme and Community Medical Camp Successfully Completed

Following an invitation from the District Secretary of Ampara, the Dehiattakandiya Health Promotion Programme and Community Medical Camp was successfully conducted on 26 and 27 August 2026 at Mahaweli Shalika Hall, Dehiattakandiya.

The programme was organized by the Department of Cikitsa, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, GWUIM, under the coordination of Dr. K. K. I. Eranga Karandugoda, in collaboration with the Ampara District Secretariat, Dehiattakandiya Divisional Secretariat and its Samurdhi Division, Eastern Provincial Department of Ayurveda, and Ranhelagama Ayurvedic Base Hospital.

During the two-day programme, nearly 400 patients received free Ayurvedic clinical consultations, treatments, medicines and health advice. The programme also provided valuable supervised community-based clinical training for 49 fourth-year students under the guidance of five academic staff members.

The Faculty sincerely appreciates all collaborating institutions, healthcare authorities, donors, academic staff, students and support personnel whose commitment contributed to the success of this programme.

“Uniting academic knowledge, compassionate service and institutional collaboration to promote healthier communities.”
