The Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine (GWUIM) proudly celebrates the outstanding international achievement of its undergraduates from the BSc. (Hons) Yoga and Parapsychology Programme, Department of Indigenous Health Sciences, Faculty of Indigenous Health Sciences and Technology, at the 1st World Yogasana Championship 2026.
Organized by the World Yogasana – International Federation for Yogasana Sport, this prestigious international championship was held from 4th to 8th June 2026 at the TransStadia Arena, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The event brought together 522 competitors representing 76 countries, creating a global platform for showcasing excellence, discipline, and dedication in the field of Yogasana.
Nine talented undergraduates from the BSc. (Hons) Yoga and Parapsychology Programme of GWUIM represented Sri Lanka as members of the National Yogasana Team, demonstrating their exceptional skills and commitment while bringing honour to both the university and the country.

The Sri Lankan team achieved remarkable success with the valuable contribution of GWUIM representatives, securing a total of 11 medals across several competitive categories.

- Traditional Group Category – 4 Silver Medals (2nd Place)
- Artistic Group Category – 5 Silver Medals (2nd Place)
- Rhythmic Pair Category – 2 Bronze Medals (3rd Place)
- Total Medals – 11
- Silver Medals – 9
- Bronze Medals – 2
