Honoring Decades of Dedication: Long Service Awards 2025

The Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine (GWUIM)  held a special ceremony  on 03.03.2026 in the Mini Auditorium, to celebrate the profound dedication of its academic and non academic staff members. The event focused on those who have reached the remarkable milestones of 25 and 30 years of service, acknowledging their foundational role in the university's growth and its mission to advance indigenous medicine.

The university community gathered to honor individuals whose careers have spanned decades, bridging the institution's history from its roots to its current status as a premier state university.

  • 30 Years of Distinguished Service: Recognizing three decades of academic leadership, mentorship, and research that have shaped generations of practitioners.

Vice-Chancellor Senior Professor Wasantha Subasinghe,  as the Chief Guest, emphasized that these awards are more than just a look back at past achievements. They serve as a beacon for junior faculty members, demonstrating the impact of long-term dedication on the university's national and international standing.

The ceremony also integrated the Vice Chancellor's Awards, which recognize excellence in innovation, research, and scholarly work, highlighting how long-standing experience often leads to the most impact creative and scientific contributions.These awards recognize and honor excellence in research, innovation, and scholarly work. By celebrating these achievements, the university aims to motivate staff to excel in teaching and research, while inspiring junior members to elevate the institution's national and international standing.It recognizes outstanding achievements in several categories:

 The Information and Communication Technology Centre (ICTC) of the  University was awarded the Best Centre Award at the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony 2025.

This prestigious award recognizes the ICTC's outstanding contributions to the university’s digital infrastructure, innovation, and support services over the past year. This achievement is a testament to the collective hard work, dedication, and excellence demonstrated by the entire team .
