The Department of Technology successfully organized MiniScope 2026, a project exhibition presented by the 3rd-year students of the Bachelor of Health Science Honors in Biomedical Technology and Bachelor of Health Science Honors in Health Information and Communication Technology degree programs (Batch 2021/2022), on 23 June 2026.
The exhibition served as a platform for students to present their ongoing research projects and innovative technological solutions aimed at addressing contemporary challenges in healthcare. Through interactive demonstrations and presentations, students showcased their knowledge, creativity, and technical expertise in developing practical solutions with the potential to improve healthcare services and patient outcomes.
TThe event was graced by Senior Professor A.W.K. Wasantha Subasinghe, Vice Chancellor of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, as the Guest of Honour. The exhibition was further enriched by the presence of distinguished guests, including Professor Sisira Lal Pathirana from the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB), University of Colombo; Professor Kaushalya Yatigammana from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya; Dr. Chamara Liyanage from the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Dr. Jithya Wijesinghe, Dean, Faculty of Indigenous Health Sciences and Technology.
The distinguished guests visited the exhibition stalls, interacted with the student teams, and shared valuable insights and constructive feedback on the projects. Their presence and encouragement inspired students to continue pursuing innovation, research excellence, and interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of health technology.
The exhibition also welcomed students and teachers from Anura Central College, Yakkala, providing them with the opportunity to explore emerging technologies in biomedical and health information systems. The visit offered valuable exposure to university-level research and innovation, inspiring the school students to pursue higher education and careers in health technology and related STEM disciplines.
