University Staff Cricket (Softball) Tournament 2025
The University Staff Cricket (Softball) Tournament 2025 was successfully held on 20th January 2026 at the Wathupitiwala Public Ground, organized by the Physical Education Unit for the second consecutive year. This year’s tournament witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 10 teams, representing Academic, Academic Supporting, Non-Academic, and Temporary/Contract staff members.
This year-end sporting event was organized with the objective of providing university staff a well-deserved break from their routine duties, fostering relaxation, teamwork, and meaningful interaction among colleagues from all departments, divisions, and units through friendly competition.
The event was further honored by the esteemed presence of the Vice Chancellor, Senior Professor A. W. K. Wasantha Subasinghe, Registrar Mr. B. A. N. Krishantha, and other academic members. The award ceremony recognized outstanding performances and sportsmanship, with champion trophies, medals, certificates, and cash prizes presented to the winning teams.
The tournament not only promoted camaraderie and enjoyment but also helped identify hidden sporting talents within the university community, strengthening unity and team spirit among staff members.
