About CGEE-GWUIM
The Centre for Gender Equity and Equality (CGEE) of Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine is established to promote a safe, inclusive, and gender-just university environment. The Centre is committed to advancing gender equity and equality through education, research, policy support, and community engagement, in alignment with national policies, University Grants Commission guidelines, and international best practices. CGEE serves as a focal point for gender sensitisation, prevention of sexual and gender-based violence, and the mainstreaming of gender perspectives within teaching, learning, research, and administrative practices of the University. The Centre facilitates awareness programmes, capacity-building initiatives, academic discourse, and evidence-based interventions that uphold dignity, respect, and equal opportunities for all members of the university community. Through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the Centre strives to foster institutional accountability, empower students and staff, and contribute to broader societal transformation towards gender equity and social justice.
