The Postgraduate Diploma in Yoga Science provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to become a competent yoga instructor and health care adviser for the advancement of physical and mental wellbeing of the mankind.
The Faculty of Graduate Studies of Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine offers the Postgraduate Diploma in Yoga Science to produce competent instructors, and yoga practitioners who are capable of contributing to theenhancement of health and lifestyle by serving effectively and efficiently.
The program holds distinctive academic curriculum, qualified and competent teaching staff, dissemination of knowledge through scholarly activities, inter-disciplinary project based learning, state-of-the-art yoga practice facilities and interaction with reputed yogic organizations.
New career avenues in yoga field are being opened in current health care services and research. After successful completion of Postgraduate Diploma in Yoga Science, students can pursue their career as Yoga Instructors, Yoga Therapists in health care settings including hospitals, Ayurvedic clinics, spa and wellness centers and educational institutions, etc. The Postgraduate Diploma in Yoga Science consists of 30 credits of course units running through one academic year.
Applicants who seek admission to the above programme should possess the following qualifications.
BAMS/BUMS/BSMS/B.Sc./B.A/MBBS or any other degree awarded by a recognized University
or
A Diploma of five year academic course work in Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (DSAC/DSAMS/DIMS/DAMS) awarded by a recognized University/ Higher Educational Institution/ Institute with at least 05 years of work experience after being registered at the Ayurveda Medical Council
or
Any other equivalent qualifications accepted by the Senate of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine.
