Postgraduate Diploma in Kāyacikitsā 

Ayurveda, the science of life, is one of the oldest and richest sources of medical knowledge in the world. It deals not only with medicines but also advices to maintain a healthy lifestyle. 
Kāyacikitsā (Medicine) is the main branch of Ayurveda and it deals with general medicine. It is related to the methods by which the body is relieved from ailments. Kāyacikitsā is a holistic way of curing diseases by reaching the root cause of the problem and then rectifying it with medicines, food and lifestyle modifications. It is evident that there is an increasing demand for ancient practices of medicine, which have contributed to the development of modern medical system, have introduced better solutions in management of life-threatening diseases such as cancers, heart diseases and many other degenerative diseases. Further, the demand for well experienced, postgraduate qualified, Ayurveda practitioners is also increasing worldwide.

The Ayurveda system of medicine should be developed so as to achieve the global health challenges. Therefore, competent specialists in the field of Kāyacikitsā are essential requirement to generate new knowledge and skills through well planned research and to formulate effective management plans and strategies as well.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies of Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine offers the Master of Science in Kāyacikitsā (MSc in Kāyacikitsā), practical oriented clinical program consisting of 60 credits of course units running through two academic years and the Postgraduate Diploma in Kāyacikitsā (PgDip in Kāyacikitsā), practical oriented clinical program consisting of 30 credits of course units running through one academic year, to fulfill this global requirement, with the aim of producing competent medical practitioners who are capable to contribute for global healthdevelopment by acting effectively and efficiently in any context throughout the globe.
Entry Qualifications

Applicants who seek admission to the programme should have following qualifications.

BAMS/BUMS/BSMS degree awarded by a recognized University/ Higher Educational Institution/ Institute

or

A Diploma of five year academic course work in Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (DSAC/DSAMS/DIMS/DAMS) qualification awarded by recognized University/ Higher Educational Institutions/ Institute and at least 05 years of work experience after being registered in the Ayurveda Medical Council

or

Any other equivalent qualifications accepted by the Senate of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine.
