Academic Skills Enhancement Programme (ASEP)

Course Coordinators: Mrs. P.N. Gardihewa & Mrs. D.A.G. Ariyasinghe

The ASEP is offered to the students of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine with a view to developing academic, professional and social skills prior to the commencement of the BAMS Programme. The programme is offered in parallel to the orientation programme of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine. The programme primarily aims to increase students’ overall level of English proficiency as well as to fully prepare students for the BAMS degree.

 

English for Ayurveda Medical Education

Course Coordinator: Dr. S.A.R.R.P. Disanayaka

“English for Ayurdveda Medical Education” is offered to the students who have enrolled for the BAMS degree. The course unit is offered during the first year first semester and the aim of this course is to enable the learner develop their presentation skills and communication skills to excel in their journey as an undergraduate.

 

Advanced English for Scientific Communication I


No. of Credits: 1
Status: Compulsory
Level of Study and Semester: Level 1 Semester 1
Course Coordinator: Dr. S.A.R.R.P. Disanayaka

During the first year of the BAMS degree, “Advanced English for Scientific Communication 1” is offered to the undergraduates following BAMS degree. The main aim of this course is to familiarize the students with the terminology of Medical English whilst improving their communication and written skills to work as Ayurveda doctors.

 

Advanced English for Scientific Communication II


No. of Credits: 1
Status: Compulsory
Level of Study and Semester: Level III Semester 1
Course Coordinator: Dr. S.A.R.R.P. Disanayaka

“Advanced English for scientific English II” is offered during the first semester of Level III for the undergraduates following BAMS degree. In this module, attention is paid to improve the skills of the undergraduates to practice their medical documentation skills and enhance their competencies to function in the field of medicine.

 

Advanced English for Scientific Communication III


No. of Credits: 1
Status: Compulsory
Level of Study and Semester: Level 4 Semester 1
Course Coordinator: Dr. S.A.R.R.P. Disanayaka

During the fourth year of the BAMS degree, “Advanced English for Scientific Communication III” is offered to the undergraduates following BAMS degree. Addressing the requirement of the undergraudates to commence their careers as researchers, in this module, basic research skills are being taught. That includes skills such as abstarct and research proposal writing.
