The Department of Kaumārabhṛtya and Strī Roga functions through three subject division of Bāla Roga (Ayurveda Pediatrics), Strī Roga (Gynecology) and Prasüti Tantra (Obstetrics).

• B.A.M.S. students of level IV and level V receive practical experience of Strī Roga (Ayurveda Gynecology) clinics and Bāla Roga clinic (Ayurveda Pediatric) at Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Teaching Hospital for five days of the week.
  
  
• Antenatal clinics at maternity home at Kalagedihena, Baduwathugoda & Yakkala under five course units.

We are also coordinating certificate courses of;

2. Certificate Course in Ultrasound Scanning

Now it is functioning of successful 09th batch in Ayurveda Beauty Culture Course and commence 06th of Ultrasound Scanning course

Certificate Course in Ayurveda Beauty Culture (CABC)

Beauty culture is one key aspect of Ayurveda, practised by generations throughout the long path of history. It is an inseparable day to day need of human life. Although in the ancient time's Beauty Culture was practised by the kings, their noblemen, and the palace and temple donors since the recent past it has become the common main daily need. Today there is a growing demand for beauty culture. In the scope of this increasing demand, various institutions have come forward offering different types of courses, to teach beauty culture. But these courses are not conducted scientifically.

The learners do not receive in-depth knowledge about the human body or the natural herbs and herbal preparations that would give a long-lasting good result. They teach the subject superficially, paying more attention to the external appearance of the body only. But it is equally important for oneself to study the structure and the behavioural activities of human body parts like hair, skin nails teeth and eyes, and how these could be nourished in order to preserve the beauty of the body. The Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine (GWUIM), realizes this urgent need and forwards a proposal to establish and conduct a short term certificate course in Ayurveda cosmetology. This will provide in-depth knowledge and skills in this area.

Objectives

• To provide theoretical and practical knowledge about the Ayurvedic perspective of Beauty culture as a day to day need.
• To provide extensive knowledge about the physiological features of the human organs that help improve the physical appearance of the human body.
• To understand government regulatory framework applied in the beauty industry
• To produce a set of skillful beauticians who could practice proper beauty culture therapy for local as well as the foreign population in keeping with the Ayurvedic traditions.

Entry Qualifications

• Passed A/L Examination OR Experienced in beauty culture field
• Priority – BAMS and DSAC Ayurveda doctors.

All the lectures and practical classes will be held at the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine (GWUIM), Kandy Road, Yakkala.

The course is designed for 04 months. Lectures and practical classes are mainly scheduled to be held during weekends.

• Medium of instruction - Sinhala and English
• Number of students - 30 Course Duration
• Lectures with Practical: 60 hours (within 04 months) Criteria for the award of the certificate
• Student registered for the CABC will be awarded the certificate of CABC if he / she attends at least 80% of theory and practical sessions.
• And should be submitted assignments under each topic.
