A Refresher Workshop for Hindi Teachers in Sri Lanka took place on September 27, 2023, at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Colombo. This workshop was organized in collaboration with the Department of Education of Sri Lanka and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, High Commission of India. It was a one-day workshop that spanned eight hours and aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of Hindi teachers in Sri Lanka.
The workshop featured Chathurini Fernando, a Senior Lecturer – Grade II from the Department of Languages, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine at Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, as a resource person.
The primary objective of this workshop was to equip teachers with effective strategies for helping their students approach Hindi language A/L and O/L examinations with minimal errors and achieve high scores. Approximately 60 dedicated Hindi teachers enthusiastically participated in this event. It is noteworthy that this workshop was conducted entirely free of charge, underscoring the commitment of the organizers to support and enhance the Hindi teaching community in Sri Lanka.
I had the privilege of participating in this national-level workshop as part of the department's annual plan.
