Awareness Programme on "Ayurveda Pharmaceutics of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation" for BAMS Undergraduates
The Faculty of Indigenous Medicine successfully hosted an Awareness Programme on "Ayurveda Pharmaceutics of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation" on September 6, 2024. The event took place from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Mini Auditorium of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine. The session was organized by the Department of Dravyaguna Vignana, which oversees the Ayurveda Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Industrial Training for BAMS third-year undergraduates.
Esteemed representatives from the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation, including Dr. Sanoj Nanayakkara, Mr. Pradeep Basnayake, Mr. Imadu Jayasekara, Mr. Sashi Kelum, and Mr. Dayapala, participated in the programme. While the event was primarily designed for fourth and final-year undergraduates, second and third-Year students were also invited, resulting in the attendance of over 60 students.
Dr. Sanoj Nanayakkara provided a comprehensive overview of the corporation’s contributions to the field of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics, touching on both traditional and modern innovations. He highlighted key processes, including the sourcing of raw materials, product development, and quality control, particularly focusing on their cosmeceutical products.
The interactive session saw students eagerly engaging with the representatives, asking questions, and expressing a strong interest in future events of this nature. Dr. Tissa Hewavithana, representing the department and faculty, presented a token of appreciation to Dr. Sanoj Nanayakkara in recognition of his insightful presentation.
As a special gesture, the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation provided freshly prepared Iramusu drinks to all attendees and distributed complimentary gift packs at the end of the event.
