Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, GWUIM at AyurEx Colombo 2024
The second International Research Symposium on Traditional Medicine, organized by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Kelaniya, in collaboration with the Department of Ayurveda, Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka, was held from May 3rd to 5th, 2024. The symposium was conducted under the theme "One health for sustainable and healthy living of humans, animals, and ecosystems" at the UCFM Tower, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.
Vice-Chancellor of the GWUIM, Prof. Ranjana Wickrema Senevirathne, graced the inauguration of AyurEx Colombo 2024 as a special guest.
On May 4th and 5th, oral and poster sessions were conducted. BAMS undergraduates, intern medical officers, demonstrators, and lecturers of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, GWUIM, actively participated in presenting their research findings.
Dr. R. M. Peiris, a Lecturer (Probationary) attached to the Department of Desheeya Cikitsa, was awarded one of the best poster presenter awards.
Prof. Priyani Peiris contributed as a session chair for an oral session whereas Dr. Nirasha Gunaratna served as session co-chair for an oral session. She also served as one of the poster session judges. Representing the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine of the GWUIM, Prof. Priyani Peiris participated as a member of the Panel Discussion during the Valedictory Ceremony of the Conference.
