Inaugural Ceremony of the Diploma in Ayurveda Pharmacy (2024/2026)

The inaugural ceremony of the Diploma in Ayurveda Pharmacy (2024/2026), conducted by the Department of Dravyaguna Vignana, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine at Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, was successfully held on October 26, 2024. The event took place from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Mini Auditorium of the GWUIM, gathering a vibrant community of students and esteemed guests.

Chief Guest and Distinguished Guests

The ceremony was honored by the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. P. Hewagama, Director of the Bandaranayake Memorial Ayurveda Research Institute, representing the Ayurveda Commissioner General. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including:

  • Professor Ranjana Wickrama Senevirathna – The Vice Chancellor, GWUIM
  • Professor K.P.P. Pieris – Head Department of Deshiya Cikitsa representing Dean, FIM, GWUIM
  • S.K.P. Tharanga - Assistant Commissioner, Technical Division
  • H.B.K. Ajith Kumara - Registrar, Sri Lanka Ayurveda Medical Council
  • B.A.N. Krishantha - Registrar, GWUIM
  • Anoma Rathnayaka - Assistant Registrar, FIM, GWUIM
  • Heads of Departments, academic and nonacademic members from the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine.

Event Highlights

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome extended to the invited dignitaries and new entrants by Dr. Nirasha Gunaratna, Head of the Department of Dravyaguna Vignana.

The gathering was addressed by:

  • Professor K.P.P. Pieris - Head, Department of Deshiya Cikitsa
  • P. Hewagama - Director, Bandaranayake Memorial Ayurveda Research Institute
  • Professor Ranjana Wickrama Senevirathna - Vice Chancellor, GWUIM

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. M.S. Pallie, Coordinator of the Diploma in Ayurveda Pharmacy (2024/2026).
