Signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Gomel State Medical University, Belarus and the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine
Marking a milestone in the journey of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Gomel State Medical University (GSMU) and the GWUIM on the 21st of February 2023 at the university premises. Representing Gomel State Medical University, Prof. Igor Olegovich Stoma – Rector and Prof. Viktor Alexandrovixh Melnik – Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, graced the event.
Professor Ranjana Wickrema Seneviratne, the Vice-Chancellor of the GWUIM, welcomed the delegation from GSMU and expressed his sincere appreciation for strengthening the ties between Belarusian and Sri Lankan academia. Specifically, both the parties, GWUIM and GSMU conveyed their gratitude to Her Excellency Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage – the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Belarus, for providing invaluable guidance in creating a platform for both the universities to engage in a Memorandum of Understanding.
In addition, representing the Gampaha Wickramarachchi International Centre (GWIC), Director of GWIC - Lt.Col. Dr. Asanka Pallewata addressed the gathering. Present in the occasion were the registrar of the university, Mr. B. A. N. Krishantha, Bursar - Mr C. G. Kotalawala, Senior Assistant Registrar (Academic Establishment) - Mr. Shammika Wijewardena and the coordinators of the GWIC. Further, Dr. Lasantha Amarakoon, Official Sri Lankan Representative for GSMU also participated in the event.
