Your successful completion of the 2022/ 2023 G.C.E. A/L Examination, enables you to apply for the Bachelor of Science Honours in Social Studies in Indigenous Knowledge Degree programme at Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine.

This BSc Hons degree programme welcomes applicants from all A/L streams, including Arts, Commerce, Science, and Technology, etc.
Our unique degree in the field of Social Sciences is designed in accordance with the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework and placed at the level six as an honours degree. This four-year multidisciplinary honours degree programme has been carefully designed along the Humanities and Social Science subject pillars:  Sociology, Geography, Anthropology, Indigenous Knowledge, Social Research along with Soft Skills and Management. The combined and applied knowledge gained from these subject pillars is expected to enhance not only technical and theoretical competencies of the graduate but also their values as well as critical and creative thinking ability. The combination of indigenous and modern Western knowledge through this degree programme seeks to produce successful researchers, practitioners, government officers, educators etc., for the future job market. Besides actively contributing to the achievement of sustainable development objectives, this programme will train students to seek answers to ongoing socio-cultural and economic issues at the national and international levels. Further,students are provided with opportunities for practical application of both indigenous and Western thought through frequent field work, practical activities and an internship integrated into this degree programme.

Additionally, the Department of Information Technology offers a Certificate/ Diploma in Information Technology for all the candidates who enroll in this degree programme on par with the collaboration of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Sri Lanka Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM) under IT for Humanities and Social Sciences to provide undergraduates an opportunity to earn a Certificate/ Diploma in Information Technology. In addition to this, the Department of Management Studies offers a free Certificate in Management program for all students who are willing to enhance their knowledge and competencies in management, which is an essential requirement in today’s job market.

Hence, we believe that individuals aiming to earn a four-year honours degree delivered in English medium from a National University will find the Bachelor of Science Honours (BSc Hons) in Social Studies in Indigenous Knowledge to be an exceptional and highly valued degree programme.
