The Research Council of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, Sri Lanka has implemented a scheme to recognize the researchers by awarding Senate Honours. This intends to encourage academics to enhance their research capabilities, explore high quality research and disseminate their research findings through the publication of research papers in high quality journals. The Senate Honours are awarded and documented at Senate meetings.

The permanent academics of the University who have published research papers in recommended indexed journals should provide details of such publications in the prescribed form of application to the Director Research Council by the 3rd week of every month to be considered at the Research Council Meetings.
